Tag Time.

Tag Time... I saw this on Uma's.. perfectly worded: "I flicked it to make it my own!!!"
Hhee... Here is my list

1) Tell us about three ways you express your creativity.
a. Writing
b. Cooking
c. Occasional incomplete art projects
2) Who’s your favorite character from a book, play, film, or other work of art?
Definitely Robert Langdon. It might have to do with me being glued to The Lost Symbol. But I like the character a lot for the humility, the vast knowledge and the ability to keep calm.
3) What’s something you do really well that other people are amazed by?
Hmm, I guess cook. One set of friends can’t believe that I can finally make ‘edible’ Roti’s. The other set of friends get amazed that I do make them often.
4) What are you shy about? Or, what situations do you find make you shy?
Hmm. It’s not very often that I am shy. But I guess the one time that I am generally is in India in a gathering at with lots of families visiting. I really don’t know what to say in such gatherings.
5) What was the best day of your life so far?
Sky diving with my husband by my side and doing this with my FIL. And then showing the video to my then two year old with her wondering why is mum jumping off a plane!
6) What are the next five books you want to read?
Not picky. Any recommended one will be good. I have become a very slow reader. So it will take me about a year to read five. Yeah, it’s that bad now!
7) Write about something you feel should not have been invented.
Smart cell phones. Though I am addicted to one all the time. I feel we are so glued to our screens every time, we miss the nuances of life.
8) What do you want to be admired for?
Taking the path less chosen.
9) What do you prefer listening to, music with lyrics or music without?
Hmm, most of the time, SD would ask me, did you hear the words, so nice. I have to rewind and play back. I generally just get engrossed in the music. Some classic songs being an exception of course.
10) Three things by which to measure happiness: someone to love, something we like to do, and something to look forward to.
a. Who do you love – Family, Friends and Myself.
b. What do you like to do – Make people around me smile and comfortable.
c. What are you looking forward to this year? – Changes :-D
11) Tell us about the day you were born.
Very hard to forget- April 1. I guess I made people smile the day I was born!
12) Tell us about some of the things you experienced for the first time in 2010.
Being able to converse with V. Proper sentences and all. Very satisfying.
13) Describe what happiness means to you using just six words.
Life is Good. Smile it’s simple.
14) What’s the fastest you’ve ever driven, where, and why?
Over 100 mph, on I-5 from LA- SFO. Just because I love to drive fast!
15) Do you have a special, non-traditional cure for cold or some other illness?
Hmmm, ½ gukab jamun for kids and two for adults. The whole some goodness will make the illness go away.
16) If you had been born the opposite sex, what do you think would be different about your life right now?
I would have invested far more in stocks than shoes and purses.
17) What’s the best thing someone could say to you right now, right this minute?
I get you!

Now, consider yourself tagged... and I better be seeing some posts or emails about taking the tag up!!!

Year 2010 in Review

I came across this article on CNN- Year 2010 in review with 10 simple questions…. Here is my take…and now all you reading it, consider yourself tagged.. so I better be seeing your responses soon enough!

1. 2010: How do you pronounce it?
Twenty Ten of course... is there any other away?

2. Make a facial expression that shows how you feel about the year.
wwwwooooooooooohhhhhhhhh!
Roll your mouth and put hands on cheeks for additional effects!

3. The best thing I bought was my daughter's kitchen set.

4. For me, 2010 was exciting, eventful and memorable. [Answer with three words]

5. I totally cringed this year when I was caught with 'foot in mouth' disease. I have learned the hard way to never say never!

6. The best thing on the internet by far was me finally figuring out Google Reader!

7. I'm pretty sure I over shared on Facebook this year when I published the article about my food poisoning.
A friend of mine was kind enough to point out- I really don’t care how often you poop girl! ;-)

8. The best day of the year was October 31st 2010

9. The best place I visited was Hawaii, which is 4251 miles from where I live.
Really it is that far...

10. Next year, I'm planning to breathe more and travel even more! Fingers crossed

Wohoo.. Tag Time.. Bloggy Award time.. Wohoo.

Woooh... Maddie I am honored. Being tagged and of course receiving the blogging honors. Now to accept it, I must

1. Thank those who loved you enough to bestow this gift.
2. Share seven (7) things about yourself.
3. Bestow this honor onto 10 newly discovered or followed bloggers – in no particular order – who are fantastic in some way.

So for 1.. .Maddie... Thanks thanks thanks... :-) Truly.. Its so cool to get all three.. Sweet Blog, Versatile Blog and Lovely Blog. Yippie..

Now for number 2:
7 Secrets.. Hmm.
1- I laugh through horror movies, just so that I don’t get scared. And then I keep telling myself... it’s so lame, I better laugh. But then, deep down, I do get scared... and now I have come to accept that, I can watch horror genre with someone in the room- never alone. Luckily, hubby doesn’t like this genre as well.. and sure as hell, I am not paying 10$ for this genre. Chick Flicks are great, thank you very much.

2- I love post-its, spreadsheets, planning and organizing. I think I am pretty good at it and I enjoy it. I am an endless list maker. I like checking stuff off. However, I am slowly letting go of the 'my way' planning and going along with the flow. It does feel good sometimes to not fret about the details and just really chill. It's hard, but I am getting better at it (I think). It’s funny, I like planning as much as I like spontaneity.

3- I started blogging to get over the fear of being read. Seriously. I like writing and though I am not skilled at making it catchy, funny... I really enjoy the passion of words.

4- I would love to ‘someday’ own a tool shed, a complete tool shed with saw, cutters, and paints and so on. I would love to make stuff, try out stuff and again, really not worry about how it turns out but enjoy the process of it all.

5- Hmm, I am sucker for romantic movies, series, but I hate reading romance novels. They are simply boring. The words which should induce passion, pain, love just come across as cheesy. It aint my cup of tea.

6- I like to be on the move, on the go. I do like sitting back and chilling, only to be 'planning' for something to do next. SD and I are suckers for being out the door. We like fresh air. On cold days, we'll even just be happy going to gym or penthouse.. just to be outside the house for a bit.

7- When we begun our parenting journey; I was really waiting for the "maternal" instincts to kick in. V was about to come out in the world, and I was still waiting. V is now 2.5 years old... and I have the "mama bear.. dont you DARE hurt my precious cub feeling"... May be this is 'maternal instinct'. Is it?

And now for 3: re-tagging.
Here it goes.
Lakshmi,
Jaish,
Forever Mother,
UmaS,
Piper,
Shilpa,
Anu,
Rashmi,
Tina,
Neetu
Priyanka

And drum roll.

My Sins against Gender-Stereotypes

The fun tag going around right now... is ‘My Sins against Gender-Stereotypes’.
Rules are simple... write down ten things that your gender stereo type does not do. Hmm... Well.. i thought I'd have tonnes.... But when I started writing, i realized, i do fit into a lot of girly stereo types.........darn... but here are the ten top most that stood out for me.

1. I have been the handy-woman around the house... got a picture frame to put up call me, got a crib to fix call me, got a broken faucet, i will attempt it.
2. Need for speed.. I love being in and driving a fast car. I miss my California days, where the speed limit was 75 and there was a minimum on some key freeways.
3. I have not liked the color pink for the longest time ever.. I must say, that's changing with my daughter growing up. I am getting more and more fond of it.
4. Heavy lifting.. I take pride in being able to carry a 60 pound bag up the flight of stairs. I take pride in being able to lift and move the couch around the house.
5. Enjoyed all types of sports.. though I suck at them.. I like to try each and every one of them. I like the adrenaline rush.. I love the excitement and above all I love the competition. I bet, SD and my dear friend can vouch for my competitive streak in a recent game of pool basket ball.
6. Tears of pain of bruises of cuts. I can handle them. I will not wince unless its excruciating.. like my ACL injury or more recently my labor. Besides these two, I don’t remember crying for other physical injuries.
7. House project.... goes hand in hand with being a handy woman i guess. But I itch to do a fix-me-up house, or stain a coffee table or even paint a room. All of these are things I want to rather than actually done.
8. I don’t know if this qualifies.. but lived alone, travelled alone and managed alone. Oh by the way, that does include filing my own taxes.. which is a freaking big deal for me.
9. Took pride in being tom boyish... one of the guys and still have a bunch of craziest guy pals.
10. Speak my mind.. all the freaking time. To the point, where I am infected for life with "foot in mouth" disease!

Hmmm... But I am a girly girl as well. I love my girl night outs, my long email conversations with friends, my clothes, shoes and purses. I can ask SD a zillion times, is this looking good. I enjoy my chick flicks as much as I love a good thriller. I can spend hours gossiping with my MIL. I thoroughly enjoy cooking and keeping my family glued. Above all.. i love being me. Opinionated yet sociable.
Feel free to take the tag if not done so already!

If I were... I'd be ....

I saw this on Shilpa's blog.. and decided to tag myself.. seems a lot of fun!!

If I were a month, I’d be - December: The spirits are high, all plans for the new years, resolutions and excitement is full force. Of course the sugar, chocolate being passed around definitely has me favoring this month for sure!

If I were a day of the week, I’d be Thursday - The week is almost over... almost.. Yes, I can make it through!

If I were a time of day, I’d be 4:30 pm. That’s the time; I have my lovely walk to pick my daughter and then it’s party time with her.

If I were a season, I’d be Spring - it will be everyone awakening from the deep winter slumber, plans being made, dresses being worn and the mood being cheery (minus the allergies!)

If I were a planet, I’d be - Earth... since I don’t want to be another planet which was getting poked by earthlings to make it habitable.

If I were a sea animal
, I’d be a Shamu the whale... Beautiful, cute and come on I am a movie star eh! ;-)

If I were a direction, I’d be - Considering how "great" I am in directions, I'd say< I 'll be north! If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be Lazy Boy... rockaway baby rockaway....

If I were a liquid, I’d be hehe... I really don’t want to answer that.. but let’s stick with coffee ;-)

If I were a tree
, I’d be ...-I have no clue.... hmm may be a mango tree so kids could climb all over me :-D

If I were a tool, I’d be Hammer. I will be able to make a lot of holes in the walls with pins to hang up V's art work! Trust me nowadays, this is the tool I use the most.

If I were an element, I’d be ....... Eesh.. Man, it was chemistry where they taught this right? ;-) I think Oxygen.. giving life to almost all around me!

If I were a gemstone, I’d be Diamond - Like Shilpa said.. A girl's best friend... and come on... I would love to be ogled by the love struck couples!

If I were a musical instrument, I’d be guitar...there is something so rock starrish about it.

If I were a color, I’d be white........ peaceful (completely opposite of me by the way!)

If I were an emotion, I’d be Love!

If I were a fruit, I’d be Strawberry.... just since V seems to enjoy her "stawberr" a lot these days

If I were a sound, I’d be the sound that waves make when they touch the shore.. naughty, excited finally at peace.

If I were a car, I’d be Lexus!

If I were food, I’d be aalloo.. hehe... Veggies can’t do without it. Can be made in so many different ways, and meal feels complete with it. You see why I have to do my getting Fit thing now? My love for Potatoes!

If I were a taste, I’d be tangy... the lemony.. gives you the tart but you always want more!

If I were a scent, I’d be Romance. No doubts about that

If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be the Jimmy Choo Ankle straps! aaah!

And if I were a bird, I’d be flying up in the sky... hehe...

And If I were to tag people I will tag now I am tempted to not anyone considering how sweet Shilpa was about it... but I think I wil, the devil in me comes up:
Piper... Just since she seems to be ignoring my previous tags as well..hehe
Lakshmi... I know she is super busy with things.. but may be this will get her back to Blogosphere.
Priyanka... you know I was gonna get to you girl ;-)
AD... It will fun to read another mom's take on this!

Oh FYI-: If I could be anybody on this planet... I'd be Me! In case you were wondering

Famos Five tags!

Shilpa @ Shona Writes... thanks for the Tag. Was really sweet of you. :-D This was hard! Ok.. so here is my take on the Famous Five

5 Gloriously Horrifyingly Dumb Movies:
This is hard, since I am known to turn off those really really stupid movies… But I will try:
1. Ghost of girlfriends past: Seriously? The name seemed so cute, thought would be a nice chick flick. It turned out to be a masala movie with really really bad story line, expected turns and overall: Crappy
2. Blue: Again, with the star cast, the music, I was all for it. A movie shot under ocean, a great achievement for Bollywood. I saw it. Well till interval. Since I could not take it anymore! Urgh!
3. Shakti, The power: Urgh Urgh, Urgh! And a little bit more of urgh! I know, I should have not gone in the theater with a movie name like that!
4. Drona: Ok, I adore AB. Seriously I do, but this movie was really bad. But I had to see the whole movie, thanks to AB being in it. But still, atrociously bad movie.
5. Sweet November: Nothing sweet about this one I tell you. Another one, which I just could not complete. I have tried twice, seriously.

5 accessories you can create out of food
1. Carrots: Take 24 carrots, tie them to a strong string, make a necklace! Tada: A 24 Carrot necklace! And no don’t try it on your spouses, beloved people!
2. Macaroni: Color them; string them together to make necklaces, bracelets, belts. Learned it from my daughter’s craft class. Hehe.
3. Toothpaste: Not technically food, but when everyone else is sleeping, take the toothpaste, make a beard/ a muchi on someone. Perfect. Don’t tell me you have not done that yet!
4. Seeds: Ok, honestly I own one of these. Didn’t make it, but bought it. Some colorful seeds, dry them up and string them together for necklaces. Super light, super cool and funky as hell! In Puerto Rico etc, its big business.
5. Apple: Core the apple, cut in slices. My daughter uses it like a ring! ;-)

5 places where you won’t be seen dead at
Hmmm. Hmmm
1. Shady club: Now it’s a family friendly blog, but you know the kind I am talking about.
2. Horror House in night: Hell no, thank you very much.
3. Sky diving all by myself. Hah! Doing it the first time with tandem was great. Second time. Oops.
4. Deli Shop: I am a hard core vegetarian you see!
5. DSW: Ok, thanks to my shoe fetish, I love this place, and would be mortified if SD saw me “just checking out shoes” yet again!

5 people you’d love to hit, anytime, anywhere
Yes, I am peace loving, but seriously: 5 is too less a number!
Anyone who say’s:
1. Girls can’t do it: Get ready for it, since I will have hundred arguments with you right now.
2. So, what’s your baby program: You have to read the post to figure out why I get so angsty about it.
Anyone who:
3. Speaks rudely to his wife/ her hubby or the significant other. Come on, man, they are human too. Count to ten and then talk.
4. Cuts the line ahead of me without asking, apologizing or acknowledging.
5. Says a word against my cooking: ;-) So the last one is a joke! Is it? Is it? Haha.

5 things you’d do to scare anybody
1. Tell a scary story. If they don’t giggle midway, I have succeeded.
2. Tell them, who’s that behind you, when truly there is no one.
3.Put red toothpaste on their nose and wait till morning.
Get one of those pranksters’ kit and figure out what I want to do.
4. Scream: “Scared!!!”
5. Cry....hehe

This was so much fun... and yes, my favorite part: I get to re-tag
Priyanka: Lady, still waiting for your Eight's as well
Lakshmi: It's been a while... and will be fun to read
Piper: Just to get to know you a bit better
Neetu: Lazy, get back to writing!
Tina: Testing, to see if you still reading my blogs.. hehe
